CANADA Workshop dates for 2010

The dates are now confirmed for my workshops in Pickering, Canada. Those dates are JULY 18th, 19th and 20th. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
The class projects are yet to be decided but I know for certain that there will be a one day class with Bride and Groom as the subjects...now there's a surprise! No kilts though, just trousers. This means that the class can be finished in one day and different subjects will be offered on the following days. So there you have it. If you are interested in these classes hosted by Flour Confections you can contact me to be added to the list of interest (which is already growing!) and you will have the opportunity to register early before registration opens to everyone else. Sounds great doesn't it? Class numbers are limited so please don't hesitate if you really want that place. I look forward to seeing you in 2010!

I'll be away for a few days...Houston classes are here!

I don't know where the time has gone but these Houston classes have come around soooo quickly! I will be leaving for Houston on Friday morning....around 3 am to be exact. I will be home again on Monday 14th.
Tutorial purchases will still be dealt with while I am away but all other enquiries will be answered when I get home. Also when I return I will have more information about the Austin classes which will be coming up in August. I have a few days during this trip to actually take a little break so I intend to enjoy this time before I return to the busy times ahead.
I would also like to say Thank You to the followers of Extra Icing too. I notice every day that there are more of you adding this blog to your list and I really appreciate that. I hope to have a lot more to share with you as this year goes on. I feel that most of my pictures are of myself these days instead of the sugar images I'm sure you prefer! I spend a lot more time teaching and demonstrating than I do making cakes but as I have many projects to design and create for upcoming classes then hopefully I will have a good selection of pictures for you to enjoy very soon...in particular another signature wedding cake coming up in June. The colours will be stunning and I am looking forward to it already.
Debbie Brown and I still have some spaces left for our classes in London in May. If you want to spend the weekend with us on the 23rd and 24th you can book your place on Extra Icing Website. Come and join us! All the materials are provided.
See you all when I get back. :o)

An Officer and a Gentleman

This is for a die hard fan of an Officer and a Gentleman, the movie....or maybe it's just Richard Gere that's the attraction! This may not be a likeness to Richard but it's the closest this 30 year old will come to being with him AND once she's finished admiring him, she can eat him! What more could you ask. :o)

Kyla Myers - President of Capital Confectioners, Austin

The lovely Kyla appeared on TV for the second time to promote the annual That Takes the Cake Show which takes place in Austin, Texas. This show has just finished but I thought you might like to see this TV appearance for another reason....recognise any of the sugar art?? Thank you so much for the mention Kyla, you have made me proud. I will be seeing Kyla in Houston in a couple of weeks as she is taking part in my workshops there. I will then spend even more time with her as I return to Austin in August. What a natural you are on TV Kyla....you should have your own show! ;o)

Thankyou ladies of Bolton BSG!

I have just returned from a fabulous weekend where I spent Saturday holding a workshop in Bolton...organised by Bolton BSG branch. The venue was perfect, the ladies were fantastic and the skills in this room were amazing. Although at times you could hear a huuuuge sigh when the "next step" was being shown, they all managed to take a deep breath and show that they were more than capable of modelling with sugarpaste....the Aine2 way! Thank you so much ladies for a fabulous time. I certainly look forward to seeing you again! Cheers!

Who's a clever girl then??

I wasn't going to write about this just yet until I receive the official letter...but you know me, I can't keep my own spit! hahaha! Soooooo....I just want to share with you that I am now Lorraine McKay, Accredited British Sugarcraft Guild Demonstrator. Wooohooooo! I did it....and I am so relieved and happier than I can say (more for the fact that it is all over than anything else!) I will have a new spring in my step and look forward to showing off my shiny new badge when I am on my travels doing my thing! I think a big thank you is in order to all of you who follow this blog and keep up with all that I do. If it weren't for the fact you enjoy my work then I wouldn't have anything to shout about now would I. So thank you, everyone!

Young Anniversary Couple...New York class in November!

This is a project for my workshops in New York this November. I wanted to capture a younger approach to an Anniversary and get away from the usual clinking glasses and champagne bottles which go along with celebrating an Anniversary perhaps. I hope this idea works well. It could be used for Valentine's Day too, don't you think? You can see the couple up close in my Flickr photos. Have a look!
